| Abstract | Here we present processed hourly subsurface temperatures from Underwater Temperature Recorders (UTRs) located at a depth of 2.5m off Elands Bay (32.3167°S 18.3200°E), along the west coast of South Africa, between 12 March 1996 and 10 April 1996. At selected sites around Southern Africa, UTRs have been used to obtain long-term records of bottom temperature in the nearshore environment, at depths ranging from 2m to 34m. |
| Methods | A subsurface-mounted, Underwater Temperature Recorder (UTR) was deployed at a depth of 2.5m off Elands Bay (32.3167°S; 18.3200°E), along the west coast of South Africa. The instrument measured hourly temperature readings between 12 March 1996 13h00 and 10 April 1996 11h00. |
