| Abstract | Here we present raw temperatures from Underwater Temperature Recorders (UTRs) located at a depth of 4m off Port Alfred (33.6027°S 26.8999°E), along the east coast of South Africa, between 09 July 1997 and 02 March 1998. Note that the data that falls outside of these dates is not from the deployment. At selected sites around South Africa, UTRs have been used to obtain long-term records of bottom temperature in the nearshore environment, at depths ranging from 2m to 34m. Note that for some deployments, two UTRs were deployed to simultaneously record bottom temperatures. |
| Methods | The raw data was collected using an Underwater Temperature Recorder (UTR) that was configured to sample every 60 minutes. A subsurface-mounted UTR was deployed at a depth of 4m off Port Alfred (33.6027°S; 26.8999°E), along the east coast of South Africa. The instrument(s) measured hourly temperature(s) readings between 09 July 1997 and 02 March 1998. The battery failed on the 02 March 1998 and the unit stopped recording until it was serviced on 11 March 1998. |
