| Abstract | Here we present processed half-hourly subsurface temperatures from Underwater Temperature Recorders (UTRs) located at a depth of 14m off Second Beach, Port St. Johns, South Africa (-31.6535°S 29.5220°E), along the south coast of Southern Africa, between 01 December 2011 and 19 March 2012. At selected sites around Southern Africa, UTRs have been used to obtain long-term records of bottom temperatures in the nearshore environment, at depths ranging from 2m to 34m. Note that for some deployments, two UTRs were deployed to simultaneously record bottom temperatures. |
| Methods | Subsurface-mounted, Underwater Temperature Recorder(s) (UTR) were deployed at a depth of 14m off Second Beach, Port St. Johns, South Africa (-31.6535°S; 29.5220°E), along the south coast of Southern Africa.
